1 killed, 2 injured after motorcycle hits pedestrian on I-65

[image] Eric Knight, 34, died after he struck a man in the right lane of I-65 in Madison.

A man was killed and two others seriously injured after a motorcycle crashed into a pedestrian on Interstate 65 in Madison Saturday evening.

The crash happened around 6 p.m. between the Madison and Rivergate Parkway exits in northbound lanes.

Police stated the pedestrian, identified as 45-year-old Gregory Crabtree, blew a tire on the interstate and was in the roadway to pick up a piece of tire tread.

He was then struck by 34-year-old Eric Knight, who was driving a Harley Davidson motorcycle.

The impact caused Knight’s motorcycle to veer into the shoulder between Crabtree’s truck and the guardrail, ejecting him and his passenger, 27-year-old Abigail McCormick.

Knight died at the scene.

Crabtree was transported to Skyline Medical Center and was last listed in critical condition.

McCormick also sustained serious injuries and was last listed in critical condition at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

The crash remains under investigation. Police stated alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
