A search is underway for a Nashville couple’s dogs after a serious crash in Alabama.
Olivia and Seth Hatfield were on their way back from a family reunion in Dothan when they were involved in an accident on Sunday, June 29.
Seth only received minor injuries, but Olivia was critically injured.
Their two dogs, Molly and Claire, were traveling with the Hatfields. They ran off after the crash.
While family is with Olivia at the hospital in Birmingham, others are searching for the dogs near the crash site outside of Cullman, Alabama.
Elliott Thomas, a family friend of Olivia and Seth, wanted to help.
“I was sitting there in Nashville watching social media and feeling helpless,” Thomas told News 2 Friday afternoon. “I wanted to be active and do something.”
So, he drove to the Cullman area and began organizing a search effort.
Thanks to social media, like the Help Find Molly & Claire! Facebook page, hundreds of people have offered time, information and even equipment to the cause.
“People have shown up from all over,” said Thomas.
Prattville-based Elevated Perceptions heard about the search and offered drone equipment to help in the effort. Area animal rescue groups also got involved in the search.
Olivia and Seth are both Metro Nashville employees.
While Olivia is fighting for her life, friends are hoping to keep as much of the family together as possible.
“We just want her to keep fighting and we want these dogs to be with us when she wakes up.”
