NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Former Nashville Predator David Legwand is headed to Ottawa.

The 33-year-old center signed a two-year, $6 million deal with the Senators Friday.

Legwand was the first draft pick in Nashville Predators history.

He holds several franchise records, including games played (956), goals (210) and points (566).

He spent 15 seasons with the Preds before being traded to Detroit in March.

The Detroit native has 577 points in 977 career games.

The Senators signed Legwand to help replace Jason Spezza who the Predators hoped to aquire, but was instead traded to the Dallas Stars.
