Mother leaves children in hot car outside of health department

Murfreesboro police were called to the Rutherford County Health Department after a mother reportedly left two of her children in a hot car.

According to WGNS Radio, the incident took place Wednesday afternoon.

The woman walked into the Health Department with several children and carrying a baby in her arms.

She reportedly left two more, both under the age of six, behind sleeping in the car.

When someone asked the woman to bring the other kids inside, she refused, stating that no one can tell her what to do.

The Health Department then called police.

When officers arrived to the scene, the temperature outside was 91 degrees and the windows in the car were rolled up.

The children were not outside long enough to suffer heat stroke.

No details were immediately available about possible charges against the mother.
