Man critically injured after being struck by car in Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A man is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle in south Nashville Tuesday night.

It happened around 9:40 p.m. near the intersection of Nolensville Pike and Timmons Street.

Police officers tell News 2 the pedestrian was crossing Nolensville Pike when he walked in front of a vehicle.

The driver didn't see him until it was too late to stop.

The adult male, whose name and age were not immediately released, was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Officials stated his injuries are being considered life-threatening.

Police on the scene told News 2 speed doesn't appear to be a factor and alcohol is not suspected.

It is not likely any charges will be filed.
