Clarksville animal shelter waives fees for cats during July

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - The Clarksville-Montgomery County Animal Shelter is having a cat sale.

Late spring and early summer is a busy time for animal shelters as it is breeding season for cats.

"It just makes sense this time of year, in order to get more cats out of here, we have a special," said Clarksville-Montgomery County Animal Control Director Tim Clifton, adding, "We get cats in here every day. We get boxes full of cats every day."

The animal shelter is waving the fees hoping that people will come in and adopt cats and kittens.

"I waive the $25 adoption fee and Dr. Leslie Burchett has agreed to spay or neuter for free," Clifton explained.

Dr. Burchett works at the Tiny Town Animal Clinic.

"I think between Tiny Town Animal Clinic and us, we'll be to get some cats out of here," Clifton said.

Any other time of year the cost to adopt a cat is $87.

During the month of July the cats can be adopted for $12, which pays for its shots.
