Philly mother goes shopping, leaves 5 kids in SUV

PORT RICHMOND, Pa. -

A Philadelphia woman was taken into custody for questioning after she allegedly left five children inside a running SUV while she went shopping.

According to WPVI-TV, the kids were left locked inside a Lincoln SUV around 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Shop Rite on Aramingo Avenue.

Upon their arrival, police pried open one of the vehicle’s doors to get the children out. Authorities reported the vehicle’s air conditioning was running at the time.

All of the children, ages nine, eight, six, one and six months, were all transported to an area hospital as a precaution.

The mother of the children is being questioned by police.

The incident remains under investigation.
