NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A Madison man was arrested early Monday morning after he crashed on Ellington Parkway and then left the scene with his 2-year-old son.

According to an arrest affidavit, Nathaniel Dile hit a guardrail just before 1:30 a.m., causing the airbags of his car to deploy.

Dile, 29, and his son were found walking on Ellington Parkway near Spring Street a short time later.

The little boy was taken to Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital with a fractured skull and a bruised lung.

Dile was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where police said he had red bloodshot eyes and slurred speech, according to the affidavit.

He told officers he had recently taken a hydrocodone for pain for old gunshot and stab wounds.

He consented to a blood test and was then arrested for driving under the influence.

Dile is charged with vehicular assault and driving on a revoked license.

He was booked into the Metro jail on $13,500 bond.

Dile’s son is expected to recover. The Tennessee Department of Children’s Services is investigating.
