Predators almost pull off second trade

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Only three days after trading for Pittsburgh star James Neal, the Nashville Predators reportedly almost pulled off another deal for Vincent Lecavalier.

The Flyers are over the league’s salary cap and are looking to unload Lecavalier’s $4.5-million salary. The two sides reportedly nearly had a deal but the Predators were only willing to take the full hit of Lecavalier’s salary for two of the remaining four years on his deal.

After trading for Neal Predators General Manager David Poile has stayed active in trying to find another center to add to the Predators top six. NHL Free Agency begins Tuesday giving Poile the chance to start shopping on the open market.

If the Flyers can’t unload Lecavalier by tomorrow they have to pay him a $2-million bonus.
