Man shot while walking to mother's south Nashville home

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A man was shot in the back late Sunday night while on his way to visit his mother in south Nashville.

The victim was walking across a parking lot in the 700 block of Lewis Street just after 10 p.m. when a person in a black Chevrolet pulled up, got out and started shooting.

The 19-year-old victim was hit once in the back and transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he was treated and released.

The suspect fled in the Chevrolet and information on their description wasn’t immediately available.

Police told News 2 the victim has a lengthy criminal history, but his name was not released.
