NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

The Commodores hosted a free College World Series viewing party Wednesday at Vanderbilt’s stadium.

Gates at Dudley Field opened to fans at 6 p.m. with the game against Virginia beginning at 7 p.m. in Omaha, Nebraska.

It provided an alternative for the crowds to gather as if the game was playing right here in Nashville.

"If you can't be in Omaha, this is the next best thing. There's a lot of crowd energy. It's great,” Vandy fan Melanie Demonbreun told News 2.

“I think this year is our year. Baseball can start it out for us. Hopefully that will extend out to football as well," said Lindsey Fisher. "Hopefully this will put Vanderbilt on the map."

Free parking was available to fans at the Medical Center lots located at the corner of Jess Neely Drive and Natchez Trace.

If Vanderbilt wins Wednesday night, it will be the team’s first baseball national championship win.
