MILLERSVILLE, Tenn. - Police are investigating the discovery of a woman’s body Monday morning off Woody Lane and Highway 31 in Millersville, about 20 miles north of Nashville.

The death of 61-year-old Valerie McFadden is being treated as a homicide. She was a bulk mail technician at the US Postal Service office on Royal Parkway in Nashville. She worked for USPS for 27 years.

McFadden's body was discovered by a Millersville fireman driving in the area. Authorities said the roadway is not traveled by many people.

“[The body was] not hidden on the side of the road. It was just there on the side of the road,” TBI spokesman Josh DeVine told News 2.

Neighbors said they were shocked when they learned a body had been discovered nearby.

“I’m a little scared. I'd like to know a little more about what's going on. I live alone," resident Angela Hess stated.

Neighbor Bob Wolf added, “It's not a happy day by any means. It's just sad."

A visitation will be held for McFadden Sunday in Murfreesboro.

No arrests have been made in the case and the TBI continues to investigate.

Anyone with information is urged to call the TBI at 1-800-TBI-FIND.
