Obie the formerly overweight dachshund stops by TODAY

Obie the dachshund that put on twice the amount of its own weight and and had to go on a diet visited TODAY Show Monday to show off its new figure.

We first told you about Obie in November, when the 7-year-old dog had to leave its original owners who couldn't give him enough exercise, but didn't restrict its food. Obie weighed 77 pounds then.

The pup moved to Portland and stayed with Nora Vanatta, a dog rescuer. The dog was put on a strict diet and exercise regime and lost about 55 pounds.

Obie had to undergo a surgery to remove excess skin. But now Obie is at healthy 35 pounds and feeling well. Obie stopped by the studios of TODAY Show Monday morning.
