A Portland woman was killed Saturday afternoon after a car rolled over her.
Officials told News 2 the incident occurred at 1:15 p.m.
The victim, 73-year-old Barbara Ezell, was visiting yard sales with her daughter when they decided to stop by the home of Ezell’s sister, which is located in the 100 block of Mason Street.
Authorities said Ezell got out of the vehicle while it was still running and tried to open the hatch in the back.
It would not open while the engine was still on, so she turned the vehicle off but did not put it in park.
The vehicle started to roll backwards and Ezell was hit by the driver's door and knocked to the ground.
It then rolled on top of her, killing her instantly.
No other details were immediately available.
