MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -

At least four people were displaced by an early morning apartment fire in Murfreesboro.

Firefighters were called to The Grove Apartments in the 1300 block of Journey Drive at 5:15 a.m. Saturday morning.

No flames or smoke were visible when officials first arrived.

“When they located the top floor apartment in Building 7 and opened the door, that's when they discovered an apartment full of smoke and fire," explained Shift Commander Dale Maynard.

The sprinkler system in the building was activated and crews extinguished the fire.

The apartment was left with fire, smoke and water damage. Officials said at least four people were displaced; however, they did not need assistance from the Red Cross.

The fire appears to have started in the bathroom.

Officials said it was accidental, but the Fire Marshall’s Office will investigate.
