An unlicensed driver faces charges after a 64-year-old motorcyclist was killed in an accident in Bellevue early Thursday afternoon.
It happened on Highway 70S in front of Kroger just before 12:30 p.m.
Authorities on the scene told Nashville’s News 2 Sabino Ajualip-Rosales, who was driving a tree service pickup truck at the time, said he was turning into the shopping center when the crash occurred.
According to police, Ajualip-Rosales, 35, said he saw William Schmidt and his motorcycle, but thought he had enough time to make the turn.
Schmidt slammed into a trailer full of equipment the pickup truck was pulling. He was ejected from his 2007 Harley Davidson and pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said Ajualip-Rosales is an employee of Raul’s Tree Service and that he does not have a driver’s license.
Business owner Raul Cruz came to the scene of the deadly crash and admitted he knew Ajualip-Rosales did not have a license, but allowed him to drive anyway because he was shorthanded.
Ajualip-Rosales remains jailed on charges of driving without a license and failure to exercise due care. His bond is set at $3,500.
Crus also received a misdemeanor citation accusing him of allowing an unlicensed driver to operate his pickup truck.
The investigation is ongoing.
