Posted: Updated:

A 14-year-old boy is in custody and two others remain at large after an attempted robbery in east Nashville early Thursday morning.

Police stated the incident happened just before 2 a.m. in the 400 block of South 4th Street when the three suspects approached a female who was sitting on her front porch.

The 14-year-old reportedly produced a handgun and attempted to rob the woman.

An adult male who lived with the victim saw what was happening and came outside to confront the teen.

The man and teen got into a scuffle, during which the gun discharged and grazed the teen’s hand before he was disarmed.

The 14-year-old was transported to Skyline Medical Center with non-critical injuries. He was released and taken into custody.

He is charged with aggravated assault and attempted aggravated robbery. His identity has not been released.

The man who disarmed the teen was not injured, neither was the female victim.

“I was just reacting to try to save my life,” he said. “That’s it. Very grateful."

The other two suspects who aided in the attempted robbery remain at large.
