NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Attorney Bill Beck will get to stay on the ballot for House District 51 after his residency was challenged ahead of the August election.

A resident of District 51 sent an official complaint to the Davidson County Election Commission stating that Beck still lives in Sumner County with his wife.

Beck defended his residency, saying he's lived in Nashville for more than a year.

In February, when Beck decided to run for the District 51 seat, he rented a home on Broadmoor Drive, which is inside the district.

Prior to that, he says he lived in another house outside of District 51, but inside Davidson County.

The Election Commission voted unanimously Wednesday to leave Beck on the ballot, saying they believe he fulfills all the requirements for residency.

Beck, a Democrat, is on the ballot for the August 7 primary election.
