Woman reconnects with officer who helped deliver her 52 years ago

A woman who is now a nurse paid a visit to the police officer who helped deliver her over 52 years ago on the side of the road.

Officer Gordon Cameron was serving his first term of patrol car duty when he spotted a car speeding toward the local hospital.

The driver, Glen Ward, told the officer that his wife was in the backseat delivering a child and they were headed to the hospital.

Cameron stayed behind as the woman gave birth to the baby girl.

The woman and the child were admitted to the hospital, but Cameron did not stick around long enough for the family to find out more about him, ABC News said.

Over the past 50 years, he had been wondering what happened to the family, so he made a call a journalist who helped find the retired couple, Glen and Pauline Ward of Sackville, New Brunswick.

The family reconnected with Cameron in 2012 and they have been in touch ever since.

ABC news says the retired, 81-year-old police officer was in Moncton, New Brunswick for a funeral when he first saw the girl he helped deliver.

Cameron passed out due to stress caused by the death of the policemen whose funeral he was at when he was placed in a nearby hospital where 52-year-old Terri Ward worked as a nurse.
