LOUISVILLE, Tenn. -

An east Tennessee toddler was sent to the hospital Monday with serious injuries after he was hit by his mother’s car.

According to sister station WATE-TV, the accident happened along Diplomat Lane in Louisville when the 2-year-old's mother was backing out of her driveway and he chased after her.

The boy was taken to UT Medical Center and was listed in critical condition.

Neighbors said the subdivision has a 10-mile per hour speed limit and they often send reminders in the neighborhood’s newsletter, according to WATE.

No charges have been filed.
