MANCHESTER, Tenn. -

Lawyers for a Coffee County man accused of killing a woman at his home, dismembering her body and eating part of her corpse are asking he undergo a psychological evaluation.

Gregory Hale was not in court Monday but his attorneys were to ask a judge for a mental exam for their client.

Hale, 37, is charged with first degree murder and abuse of a corpse in the death of Lisa Hyder.

Hale admitted to murdering Hyder at his Manchester home, before beheading her and cutting off her hands and feet.

Police said he also admitted to cannibalism.

Hyder, 36, wasn't from Coffee County but was staying in the area.

Family members last heard from Hyder when she asked for a ride from a Coffee County liquor store on June 6. Her body was found two days later.

Hale is being held in the Coffee County jail on $1.5 million bond. His next court date is set for July 14.
