LAWRENCEBURG, Tenn. -

A shoplifting suspect was arrested in Lawrenceburg Thursday after police say he held employees and customers at a local drugstore hostage for more than an hour.

Police said Robert Dillon, 36, stole from the Walmart on North Locust Avenue and was later found hiding in the store’s bathroom.

Armed with a gun, Dillon took off in a maroon Ford Explorer when police arrived.

He led officers to the CVS Pharmacy on East Gaines Street.

When authorities entered the store, they found Dillon, still armed, behind the pharmacy counter demanding drugs from the pharmacist at gunpoint.

After a standoff lasting more than an hour, Dillon was eventually disarmed and arrested.

No one inside the store was injured.

Dillon faces charges of aggravated robbery, among others.

He was booked into the Lawrence County jail where he is being held without bond.
