DICKSON, Tenn. -

A 16-year-old boy mowing lawns to make money for the summer was killed when his pickup truck collided with a tractor trailer in Dickson late Thursday morning.

The crash involving Andrew Morton happened at 11:20 a.m. on Highway 46 off Interstate 40 in front of the Pilot truck stop.

Dickson police Cpl. Mike Phillip said a northbound tractor trailer attempted to turn left into the truck stop in front of Morton, who was traveling southbound.

The boy couldn’t stop in time and slammed into the trailer, sliding underneath it.

He was pulling a trailer with his lawnmower on it at the time of the crash.

Charges weren’t immediately filed against the driver of the tractor, Daniel Maupin, of Pikeville, although the investigation is ongoing.

Donations to the family can be made at any TriStar Bank under the Marvin Andrew Morton Family Fund.
