Convicted burglar arrested for south Nashville break-ins

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A convicted burglar was arrested early Saturday morning after he allegedly broke into an automotive store and a gas station in south Nashville.

Metro police say they stopped Terry Tarrents, 58, on Nolensville Pike at 6:30 a.m. and found burglary tools and a wallet taken from the automotive store inside his vehicle.

Tarrents broke into Alva’s Automotive & Tire on Thompson Lane around 1:30 a.m. and the Shell gas station on Nolensville Pike around 4:30 a.m., police said.

Detectives learned through the investigation Tarrents was driving a gold GMC pickup truck.

When officers found him a short time later, he gave them permission to search his truck which is when they found the tools and wallet.

Tarrents was charged with two counts of felony burglary, possession of burglary tools and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.

His bond was set at $34,000 and he is scheduled to be in court Thursday.

He was also scheduled to be in court Tuesday for a separate charge of unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.

He has six previous convictions for business burglaries, auto burglary, theft and cocaine possession.

Tarrents is suspected in other similar break-ins.
