7-year-old girl dead after crash in Kingsport

KINGSPORT, Tenn. - A seven-year-old girl was killed in a crash in Kingsport, Tennessee Saturday afternoon.

The accident took place in front of the Dollar General Store on New Beason Well Road just after 1 p.m.

Witnesses say, while Ava Marie Wagers’ father was inside the store, his Chevy S10 truck began to roll backward with the child still inside.

Wagers was attempting to escape the vehicle as it continued rolling South on New Beason Well Road before running off the roadway and striking a guardrail and road sign.

She was rushed to the Holston Valley Medical Center where she later died as a result of her injuries.
