SPRING HILL, Tenn. -

As country music fans are filling the streets of Nashville during the CMA Music Festival, thousands of others are getting muddy in Spring Hill.

Tennessee's first ever Tough Mudder event is being held in Spring Hill on Saturday and Sunday.

The ten to 12 mile military-style obstacle course includes freezing water pits, fire slides and what’s called Electroshock Therapy, which can produce around 10,000 volts of electricity.

Paul Gillmon with Tough Mudder says the challenge is not a race. It’s not even timed.

“It’s all about comradery and teamwork,” Gillmon said. “Whether you’re in a team or running alone, people are helping you get over the obstacles.”

The event is being held off Cleburne Road in Spring Hill, about a fourth mile south of Spring Hill Middle School.

The races for Saturday and Sunday are about 99 percent sold out.
