A woman in England is working to reunite a lost toy with his rightful owner.
Bev McNeill saw the abandoned and muddy Woody, who is one of the main characters in the hit “Toy Story” movies, on the side of the highway.
She told ABC News the first time saw the toy she didn’t stop to retrieve it, but after seeing it in the same spot seven weeks later she decided to rescue Woody.
“I’m a big fan of ‘Toy Story,’ and of Woody in particular, and it was so sad to see him lying there on the side of the road, just like in the movie,” McNeill told the Daily Mail.
She continued, “The guy in the car behind me was giving me a very strange look, but when I held up Woody to show him, he just said, 'Aww.’”
Upon retrieving the doll, McNeill noticed the owner had written his name, Liam, on the bottom of Woody’s boot, just like the Pixar character Andy does in the original ‘Toy Story’ movie.
After learning the child’s name, McNeill began an online campaign with the hashtag #GetWoodyHome.
In the past 24 hours, #GetWoodyHome has been tweeted and shared thousands of times by people all over the world.
