NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A 51-year-old woman was killed instantly after she was struck by a pickup truck in the Bordeaux area of Nashville late Monday night, and police are still searching for the driver.

The crash happened just before 11 p.m. as the victim, Mary Katherine Frazier, attempted to cross Clarksville Pike near the intersection of Buena Vista Pike. The closest crosswalk is 200 feet away.

The impact caused the truck’s radiator to rupture, leaving a trail of fluid that officers followed to a home located at 2813 Hydes Ferry Road.

Officers found the truck there. It had obviously been involved in a collision and one of the victim’s shoes was found underneath it.

The truck’s owner, Fred Edwards, 76, denied being involved in a collision. He told officers that someone must have stolen the truck from his driveway and then returned it.

The vehicle was impounded for processing. No charges have been filed.

Clarksville Pike was shut down as the scene was investigated. It has since reopened.

Police said Frazier lived on nearby Hydes Ferry Road.
