Authorities search for groups of thieves terrorizing Maury County

MAURY COUNTY, Tenn. - The Maury County Sheriff's Department is on the hunt for two separate groups of thieves terrorizing several communities.

Detectives said a thief or thieves burglarized two homes in Culleoka last Friday.

The bandits got away with several thousand dollars worth of jewelry and electronic items from both dwellings.

Both crimes appear to be related to five other burglaries that occurred in the county since last November.

Deputies told News 2 they have a person of interest linked to these seven burglaries.  They said the man went to a home recently, walked up the front porch, looked through the window and then left.  A short time later, a home was broken into in the same area.

"We want to find out who he is and what he was doing there," said Detective Sergeant Roscoe Voss.

In addition to searching for the thieves responsible for the burglaries, they also want to stop a second group of crooks who are on the prowl for prescription pills.

Detectives said a burglar broke into 13 random homes on the east side of the county from May 9 through the 11 in the middle of the day.

Victims reported several pill bottles were taken from their homes.  Authorities said the bandits kicked their way into the homes and rummaged through medicine cabinets looking for the prescription drugs.

Authorities believe the suspect is said to be driving a black two-door Honda with a Tennessee Titans license tag.

Detectives do not believe both groups are connected.

Anyone with information should call the Maury County Sheriff's Department Detective Division at 913-380-5725.
