Car crashes into Franklin CVS store; Driver injured

FRANKLIN, Tenn. - An 82-year-old woman suffered minor injuries after crashing her car into a Franklin drug store Tuesday morning.

Just before 11 a.m. at the CVS located on Farrier Lane at Hillsboro Road, police say Audrey Vasil mistook the brake for the gas pedal and plowed through brick and glass and into the side of the store.

"I don't know anything about the driver other than she is an 82-year-old woman from Franklin who doesn't appear to have any type of impairment," Franklin Police Sgt. Charles Warner told News 2.

He continued, "It looks like she got confused and mistook the gas for the brake; intending to stop and actually went forward instead.”

The black Lexus sedan went through the brick and glass and came to rest with only the back-end of the car outside of the store.

"The driver appears more upset than injured, so as a precaution she was transported to Williamson Medical Center where she will be evaluated," Warner said.

One CVS employee was injured when part of the wall collapsed and hit her. Warner told News 2 the employee was transported to Williamson Medical Center as well, but is believed to have suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The pharmacy is closed, but a sign posted on the door notified customers than the pharmacy drive-thru will remain open for prescriptions only.

No charges were filed.

That gesture got a Tennessee student kicked out of class this week after violating a classroom rule. When high school senior Kendra Turner said, “bless you,” to a classmate who sneezed, she said that her teacher told that kind of comment was for church.
