BANGOR, ME - A woman in Maine celebrated her college graduation 75 years after she left school.

Earlier this week, a special graduation ceremony was held at Beal College for 99-year-old Jessie White, according to ABC News.

White was supposed to graduate from the school with a degree in stenography and bookkeeping in 1939, but a $5 transcript fee prevented her from getting her degree.

When a friend heard about what happened, she contacted Beal College president, Alan Stehle.

He paid her balance and hosted a graduation ceremony for White and her friends.

“It was wonderful. I had a lot of fun,” explained White. “I didn’t think my life was complete without it.”

Despite not earning her degree until seven decades later, White worked many years as a bookkeeper.
