NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Metro police are currently searching for a man who deserted a truck full of air conditioning units they believe may have been stolen.

The incident began as an officer was conducting a traffic stop on Wedgewood Avenue near the Tennessee State Fairgrounds.

The officer reported the driver of a black pickup truck sped off as he approached the window, doing a U-turn back toward 8th Avenue South.

The driver eventually turned into an alley behind the Centennial Adultcare Center.

Metro officers flooded the area and located the black truck abandoned with several air conditioning units in the bed, each worth thousands of dollars.

They believe the units could be stolen, along with the truck itself.

They are working to find the truck’s owner.

Police have searched the entire area, but the driver has yet to be located.

He is described as a white male with a scruffy beard who is very skinny. He is believed to be in his 40s and 50s and travelling on foot.
