Security guard shot at Edgehill apartment community

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A security guard was injured after he was shot at an Edgehill apartment community early Thursday morning.

The shooting happened just after Midnight on Hillside Avenue at the Park at Hillside apartments.

Police told News 2 the security guard approached two men in the parking lot who reportedly opened fire.

The suspects then fled the scene.

The security guard was struck at least once. He was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

The circumstances leading up to the shooting were not immediately known.

News 2 learned the security guard currently works for the Tennessee Protection Agency, teaches classes for weapons permits and is a former deputy sheriff.
