NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A man wanted by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation for nearly three years was captured in Wilmington, North Carolina this week.

Stephen Beck, 43, was added to the Top 10 Most Wanted fugitive list in July of 2011 after he failed to appear in court in Wilson County.

Beck was due in court to enter a plea deal or set a trial date on charges stemming from his August 2010 arrest on dozens of rape and sex-related charges.

He faced nine counts of rape of a child, 16 counts of rape and 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor in Wilson County, and three counts of rape of a child in Rutherford County.

Beck was out on $150,000 bond in Wilson and $1 million bond in Rutherford at the time he disappeared.

Special agents with the TBI, U.S. Marshals, and deputies in both Wilson and Rutherford counties have searched for Beck since.

The case involved hundreds of tips with over 1,000 leads across 17 states.

In February of this year, the TBI developed information that Beck had been living in Johnson City, Tennessee and was actively avoiding capture.

Eventually, authorities learned he moved to Wilmington, North Carolina. Special agents and the U.S. Marshals searched for Beck in the area for months.

He was ultimately found in the 100 block of Dapple Court in Wilmington, living under a stolen identity by the name of Jason Keith.

News 2 learned Beck’s first appearance in court is Wednesday at 2 p.m.

He faces drug charges in North Carolina after officers found meth in his apartment.

Beck must satisfy those charges there before being extradited back to Tennessee.

He is in jail on $18 million bond.
