SPRING HILL, Tenn. -

A rollover crash claimed the life of a young Maury County man Tuesday morning.

The Maury County Fire Department responded to the single vehicle accident on Beechcroft Road at Petty Lane around 7 a.m.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol told News 2 the SUV was travelling east on Beechcroft Road when it veered off the left side of the roadway and overturned, striking a tree.

A man trapped inside the vehicle had to be extricated, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim is identified as 20-year-old Jeremy Lecroy, from the Santa Fe community, just west of Spring Hill.

Lecroy was the only person inside the SUV, and he was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The THP is investigating the accident. Troopers believe speed played a role.

It is unclear if alcohol or drugs were a factor.
