FRANKLIN, Tenn. -

FRANKLIN, Tenn. - A fundraiser was held this weekend for a Good Samaritan seriously injured while trying to help a pickup truck driver suffering a seizure on Interstate 65 in Williamson County.

Ruth Wood, owner of Pure Nutrition in Cool Springs, shattered her hip and leg in the incident on February 15.

She has a rod and 52 pieces of hardware in her leg. Friends say Wood has now accrued around $2 million in medical bills.

“Your life doesn't stop just because you are hurt, but when you can't do it that's the hard part,” Wood told News 2.

Kim Ward with Spray Tans Done Right hosted a spray tan and luau party fundraiser at Wood’s store.

One hundred percent of the proceeds went to Wood.

“I can’t give her back the health that she once had, but if I could take some financial stress off of her maybe that will just allow her to focus on healing,” Ward said.

A benefit concert is scheduled for Wood on June 25.

There is also a Go Fund Me account to help offset her medical expenses.
