Man shot multiple times in La Vergne driveway

LA VERGNE, Tenn. -

A Rutherford County man was shot multiple times while sitting in a driveway in a quiet La Vergne neighborhood Sunday evening.

Authorities said the victim was approached while sitting in a car outside a home in the 3000 block of Herman B Rader, not far from the intersection of Floyd Mayfield Drive.

The suspect reportedly “uttered brief dialog” before opening fire, according to Assistant Police Chief Keith Lowery.

The victim was struck multiple times before running away from the gunman, who chased him briefly then left the area.

The motive has yet to be determined.

The victim was flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he was treated and released Monday morning.

La Vergne police said they are currently following leads and developing new information. The investigation I ongoing.
