KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Tennessee head coach Donnie Tyndall announced that swing man A.J Davis will not return to the Volunteers next season.

Davis, along with teammate Darius Thompson, requested a release from his scholarship at Tennessee to explore other options. At the time, Tyndall said he was not ruling out the possibility that they would return to Knoxville but confirmed via text that Davis would be transferring.

Davis averaged 1.3 points, 1.6 rebounds and 9.4 minutes per game as a freshman. He is the son of former NBA forward Antonio Davis.

Tyndall also said Thompson’s situation is still uncertain.
