New Predators head coach Peter Laviolette says his system has worked at each stop for him and he expects more of the same in Nashville.

Laviolette’s teams have always scored, and usually won, in his previous 12 seasons as a head coach.  GM David Poile pointed toward that offensive system and changing the look of his team when he hired Laviolette.

Laviolette pointed towards Poile Wednesday when asked why he took the job.

“I knew David before that and he knew me but, we spent an awful lot of time, I think talking over the phone and meetings.  To get the opportunity to get to work for a first class general manager, one of the best in the league and that's, apparent to me.”

Laviolette spoke with reports on teleconference Wednesday from Minsk, Belarus where he is coaching Team USA at the World Championships.

Predator players voiced excitement Wednesday about bringing in a coach who’s been to two Stanley Cup Finals.

Veteran forward Patric Hornqvist said, “I don't know, but I talked to a few guys and the only things I hear are good things and obviously I'm really excited to get a little fresh start here.”

Forward Rich Clune said there is no anxiety with a new coaching staff .“I've just heard that he's a fair coach.  If you put the work in and you get the job done he's going to treat the guys well and I've also heard if you're cutting corners and not getting the job done he's, he's going to let your know.”
