Largest Car Rental Company in Florida Extends Local Network to Support Military
ST. LOUIS, May 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Navy Exchange Service Command (NEXCOM) has selected Enterprise Rent-A-Car as the contracted rental car vendor at 18 Navy Exchange (NEX) locations in a new two-year contract. The partnership will provide those locations on-base access to car rentals, truck rentals and car-sharing services – providing a comprehensive transportation solution to meet diverse travel needs.
NEX locations that will receive Enterprise's transportation services include:
Enterprise Holdings – the largest car rental company in the world -- owns and operates National Car Rental and Alamo Rent A Car as well as its flagship Enterprise Rent-A-Car brand. With more than 6,000 offices located within 15 miles of 90 percent of the U.S. population, the company's extensive neighborhood and airport network uniquely positions it to provide consumers, businesses and government agencies with unmatched flexibility and reliability in meeting local mobility needs.
For example, since opening its first Florida location in Orlando more than 40 years ago, Enterprise Holdings has grown to nearly 450 rental offices and more than 5,000 employees across the state. The estimated annual economic impact of the company's operations in Florida is approximately $750 million, which represents a recurring investment in facilities, hiring, local vendors and businesses, and important community organizations.
"Enterprise Holdings not only is the largest car rental company in Florida, it's the largest in the world in terms of revenue, fleet and locations," said Tom Feeney, president and CEO of Associated Industries of Florida. "So it is exciting that Enterprise continues to extend its network of more than 400 Florida car rental branches and integrate its local service to support the military and their families in the Key West, Jacksonville, Mayport and Pensacola regions."
Enterprise Rent-A-Car's contract with NEXCOM runs May 1, 2014, through April 30, 2016. It includes two two-year optional extensions for a maximum potential contract term of six years.
Partnering with NEXCOM continues Enterprise's longstanding relationship with the U.S. government, including U.S. military personnel, reservists, veterans and their families. In fact, Navy veteran Jack Taylor founded Enterprise Rent-A-Car and named the company after the USS Enterprise, the ship on which he served as a pilot during World War II.
For the last six years, Enterprise Rent-A-Car served as the leading rental car supplier through the U.S. Government Travel Charge Card Program (GTCC), which provides a streamlined method to pay for official government travel. Additionally, Enterprise Holdings was awarded the car rental industry's very first General Services Administration's (GSA) Schedule Contract to provide supplemental rental vehicles. Enterprise Holdings is the GSA's top rental car provider through the agency's Rental Supplemental Vehicle Program.
Ongoing Military Support
"Things can change in an instant on a military base," said Bryan Scott, director of federal government sales at Enterprise Holdings. "Car rental businesses play an integral part in the local transportation infrastructure on these bases. Our goal is to provide added convenience and flexibility for both duty-related activities and personal travel needs."
Today, Enterprise Holdings already serves more than 50 U.S. military bases, and has been widely recognized for its ongoing support for veterans and reservists, who comprise nearly 10 percent of its total U.S. workforce. Most recently, the company was designated a Top Veteran-Friendly Company by U.S. Veterans Magazine and a 2013 Military Friendly Employer® by Victory Media, publisher of G.I. Jobs.
Additionally, Enterprise Holdings hired nearly 2,000 military veterans and reservists last year alone. In fact, Enterprise Holdings recently updated its careers and recruitment website to feature information about the company's ongoing military support, military heritage and employment opportunities for members of the military community and their families.
