NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A man was arrested Monday night in a prostitution sting related to an ad on Backpage.com.

According to an affidavit, after officers responded to the ad, Randy Stewart was seen arriving at the designated place with the woman from the ad.

An undercover officer made contact with the woman, verified her identity, the terms of the deal, and placed $120 on a table.

When the woman began to undress, other officers responded to the room and took the woman into custody.

Officers couldn’t find Stewart, and found the door knob to an adjoining room was broken, according to the police report.

Stewart was then found hiding in the bathroom.

There were reportedly multiple messages on Stewart’s phone implicating him in promoting the woman for prostitution.

Police say Stewart stated times were hard and they were just trying to make some money.

A small amount of marijuana was found in the room’s desk drawer along with three hydrocodone pills.

Stewart and the woman did not claim ownership of the drugs.

Stewart has been charged with promoting prostitution and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.

His bond was set at $10,000.
