Titans seeking picks, not quarterback in NFL Draft

Posted:
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee Titans pick eleventh in the first round of this years’ NFL Draft Thursday night in New York.

General Manager Ruston Webster indicated what he would like to get most at 11 is more picks.

Armed with only six picks in what is considered an extremely deep draft, Webster said he would like to get back the pick the Titans traded away a year ago when they moved up to pick Justin Hunter.

Webster said, “I'd like to get the pick back, I think if there's a possibility to get multiple picks back, not just that, I think that's something we'd like to do.  You just have to have a partner to do it.”

Fans who want the Titans to take a quarterback in the draft may need to see that trade happen.

Webster and new head coach Ken Whisenhunt have both sounded lukewarm about drafting a quarterback.

Webster said, “I don't think that’s a slam dunk by any means.  You know, we like what we see out there right now, Jake's doing really well and everybody felt like Jake played really well when he was healthy.  The big key is him staying healthy, but I don't know it's necessarily true that there's somebody we could bring in that would necessarily make us better next year.”

The Titans declined to pick up the option year of Locker’s rookie contract making this season the final year of his deal.
