FRANKLIN, Tenn. -
A man was flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center after he became trapped inside his car following a crash with a concrete truck.
The accident happened at Blazer and Southall roads around 7 a.m. in Franklin, not far from Carters Creek Pike.
Initial information indicates the man's white sedan was struck by a concrete truck as he was exiting his driveway. The impact forced the sedan off the roadway and caused the concrete truck to overturn.
The roof of the car had to be removed in order to extricate the victim, who officials said was alert and conscious prior to being transported to Vanderbilt.
An update on his condition was not immediately known.
The driver of the concrete truck was transported to a nearby hospital to get checked out.
Neighbors told News 2 at that time of day the sun sits perfectly over the road, blinding anyone wanting to turn onto Southall Road.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol responded to the scene.
