ATLANTA, Ga. -
A woman was killed and her fiance injured in a crash in Georgia Monday night, just five days before their wedding.
The Dalton Daily Citizen reported John Redman, 25, lost control of his 2008 Lexus on Interstate 85, about 40 miles away from Atlanta, before striking a concrete bridge support of an overhanging road.
Brittany Huber, 23, was killed in the crash.
Redman was transported to an area hospital with head injuries, broken ribs and multiple fractures. He remains in the intensive care unit.
Redman is an assistant basketball coach at Dalton State College. The college has since asked for the community to pray for Redman and both families involved in the crash.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with her family at this impossibly hard time," Dalton State athletic director Derek Waugh told WKRG-TV. "She was an amazing person who was loved by all who met and knew her."
The couple was set to be married on Saturday in Alabama after becoming engaged in June.
Redman is the son of LPGA player Susie Kirk, who played professionally for nearly 20 years.
