Metro police raided a north Nashville liquor store Wednesday morning and seized the business’ entire stock.

The raid followed a several month investigation into Northwest Liquors’ alleged dealings with stolen merchandise.

Detectives began investigating the store, located at 1613 Buchanan Street near Dr. DB Todd Jr. Boulevard, in December.

On 10 separate occasions between December 12, 2013, and April 29, staff at the store purchased a total of 11 gift cards collectively valued at $5,000 from an undercover police operative in exchange for a total of $260 in cash and a small amount of cocaine.

The operative clearly represented the items as being stolen.

They also bought detergent and dishwashing soap valued at more than $400 for about a fourth of its actual worth.

Metro police said charges are anticipated against the liquor store’s owner, Jenar Kader, 47, and an employee, convicted felon Waldorf Coleman Jr., 29, after the matter is presented to a Davidson County grand jury.

Coleman is additionally wanted in a separate case for allegedly shooting his pregnant girlfriend and another man during an argument on March 17 outside her home.

Coleman has previous convictions for being a felon in possession of a handgun, evading arrest and drug possession. His whereabouts have been unknown since March 17.
