SARASOTA COUNTY, FL (WFLA) -

A Sarasota man facing charges related to a rental scam reacted in a disgusting way when a code enforcement officer arrived at his property.

Craig Segel, 44, of 6537 Sabal Drive, is accused of throwing a bucket of urine on a code enforcement officer who went to his property on Monday.

Segel is charged with criminal mischief and battery on a code inspector. Investigators say Segel had frequent dealings with the victim.

Segel is also facing nineteen counts of scheming to defraud. The Sheriff's Office claims that Segel advertised his 5-bedroom Siesta Key home online as a 12-bedroom house, and refused to refund money to renters who discovered the property was not as advertised.

Deputies say Segel told the victims to sue him, and that he did not have any money to return.

The Sheriff's Office says Segel took more than $53,000 from victims nationwide.

He is being held on $55,000 bond in connection with the rental scam charges.
