ISOLA, Ms. - A dozen dogs that were rescued from a suspected dog fighting operation in Humphreys County, Mississippi have been relocated near Nashville.

Authorities located dogfighting paraphernalia, such as a rope tied to a tree used for strengthening dogs’ jaws, a pen used for training dogs to fight and security cameras.

Most of the dogs have scarring to their faces and chests.

“We do not tolerate animal cruelty in our community and I recognized that we needed assistance in order to act quickly,” said Humphreys County Sheriff J.D. Roseman. “The Animal Rescue Corps team was on the ground in less than 48 hours to rescue these dogs.”

All of the animals have been relocated to an emergency shelter just outside of Nashville.

Their needs will be met by Animal Rescue Corps and will remain in their care for a period of time before being placed up for adoption.
