Christina Summitt has a paw-print tattoo on her wrist. She's a volunteer with a pit bull rescue group and has a genuine love for animals.
While bartending at a Holiday Inn in Clinton, New Jersey, Summitt got to talking with a couple. The man asked her if she had dogs of her own. She told them about her Great Dane-black Labrador mix, Tucker, who was having emergency surgery hours after he swallowed a hard plastic ball. He mentioned that pet surgeries can get expensive and she revealed this was going to cost about $2,700. She was willing to do whatever was necessary for her "baby" though.
The 37-year-old, and mom to three step-children, works three jobs -- one as a full-time as a chef at the hotel, Saturdays as a bartender, and as a food prep worker at a deli two days a week. Her husband also works full-time.
The couple's bill was $80 but when he ended up leaving quote a tip; $1,000. Summitt said she cried and even told the man she couldn't accept it. He said to put it toward Tucker's medical costs.
