Fire destroys west Nashville home, car

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A home caught fire in west Nashville early Wednesday morning, causing serious damage to the home and one car outside.

The home, located near the intersection of 46th and Georgia avenues, caught fire around 6 a.m.

When firefighters arrived to the scene, they witnessed heavy flames shooting from the house.

One person was inside at the time but made it outside safely. Officials told News 2 the person suffered minor smoke inhalation but was not transported to the hospital.

At least one vehicle in the driveway was damaged by the flames.

The fire marshal is inspecting the scene to determine the cause.

Georgia Avenue was shut down between 46th and 47th avenues. The road has since reopened.
