Fuel spill closes Highway 41A in Cheatham County

JOELTON, Tenn. - Highway 41A is closed in Cheatham County near the Davidson County line Tuesday after a fuel tanker overturned, spilling 800 gallons of gas.

It happened around 12:30 p.m. near Johns Road just south of New Hope Road.

Fuel is leaking onto the roadway.  Highway 41A is expected to remain closed until 6 p.m.

As a precaution, around 150 houses had their power turned off as crews worked the scene.

The driver of the truck was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Their condition or identity was not immediately known.

Drivers are urged to avoid the area.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
